Putin Says Russia Ready for Diplomacy but Threatens Military Action

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow prefers a diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine but warned that Russia would pursue military means if negotiations fail. Speaking at a Russian Defense Ministry meeting, Putin claimed Russia had captured more than 300 settlements this year, criticized European leaders and the former US administration, and said Moscow was satisfied with contacts under the new US government. He also rejected claims that Russia plans to attack Europe and announced plans to deploy new missile systems.
