Russian President Vladimir Putin told the Russian Geographical Society that the planned Budapest summit with US President Donald Trump was proposed by Washington. “Both the meeting itself and the location were suggested by the US,” he said, adding he approved the idea and prepared for talks. He added, “Most likely, Trump decided to postpone the meeting.”
Putin also dismissed new US sanctions as limited in effect and warned that any long-range strikes on Russian territory would be met with a “very serious, even crushing” response.
