Rehabilitation work continues in Izmir, Türkiye, following the large forest fire on August 15 that damaged homes, businesses, and over 1,500 hectares of forest. Forestry teams from Izmir’s Regional Directorate are clearing burned trees and preparing the area for extensive replanting efforts.
To restore the region, 1.1 million saplings and 8 tons of seeds will be planted in the burned zones, with 10,000 saplings scheduled to be planted on National Afforestation Day. Afforestation is targeted for completion by March 2025. Notably, some scorched areas are already showing signs of natural regrowth, as green shoots emerge among the burned trees.
