People who lost their loved ones in the devastating Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, which killed over 50,000 people in 11 Turkish cities on February 6 last year, visited the cemeteries one day before the anniversary of the earthquake.
“I was pulled from the rubble after 6 days. My son was also removed from the rubble alive. It has been over a year and we came to visit. She loved roses, I brought her 3 of them. There is no way to describe this. She comes into my dreams every now and then,” said Ömer Üçgül, an earthquake survivor.
“We are schoolmates and classmates. We were together from 3rd grade to 8th. We lost our friend on the day of the earthquake. We are very sorry. We still haven’t forgotten,” said Muhammed Külliye, a young student.
