The release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was arrested on corruption charges in Pakistan on 9 May, by the Islamabad High Court on a 2-week temporary bail on May 12, was protested by government supporters. The demonstrators gathered near the Islamabad High Court building and argued that the judiciary had unfairly favored Khan. Hundreds of pro-government protesters demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, who freed Khan.
