Avalanches struck various locations in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region last week, following ten days of heavy snowfall in the northwestern region. Emergency efforts were initiated to rescue 54 vehicles and over 200 individuals stranded on a highway, with snow plows clearing the roads. The closure of the route to Hemu holiday village left over a thousand tourists and local residents stranded. A rescue mission, involving 31 vehicles and 53 personnel, was deployed, and the official Chinese news agency reported significant progress in clearing the road.
