Citizens in Romania, which has approximately 18 million voters, began voting to elect the country’s president at 07:00 local time. The voting process will end at 21:00 local time.
According to polls, Romanian Prime Minister and Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Marcel Ciolacu is seen as the strongest candidate among the 13 candidates running in the election.
Parliamentary elections in Romania, a member of the European Union (EU) and NATO, will be held on December 1.
