Romanian Worker Dies After Medieval Tower Collapse in Rome

 

A Romanian worker was killed after being trapped under rubble when part of the 13th-century Torre dei Conti Tower collapsed during restoration near the Colosseum in Rome. Another worker was rescued with minor injuries, while two others were slightly hurt. Built in the early 1200s for Pope Innocent III’s family, the tower was undergoing a four-year renovation when two collapses occurred within 90 minutes.
