Ukraine reported that Russia attacked Sumy shortly after a unilateral ceasefire began, killing one and injuring two. Ukrainian military spokesman Viktor Trekhubov said Russian forces struck several areas in eastern Ukraine despite the truce. A woman died and her son was injured in Mykolaivka; a second strike in Vorozhba wounded another woman. The ceasefire, declared by Russia for May 8–10 to mark Victory Day, took effect at midnight.
