While the tension at the Russia-Ukraine border continues, Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova put forward Russia’s conditions to Western countries and NATO to reduce the tension on the Russia-Ukraine border. Stating that Western countries should cut their weapons aid to Ukraine in order to reduce the tension on the border, Zakharova has also noted foreign soldiers should leave Ukraine. Zakharova pointed out that NATO should also abandon the exercises in the region.
“De-escalation around Ukraine, which has been hot topic for our western partners, can be achieved very quickly if arms deliveries to Ukraine are stopped, Western military advisers and instructors are withdrawn, NATO-Ukraine military drills are discontinued, and foreign weapons already delivered to Ukraine are removed,” Zakharova said during her press conference.
In addition to that, Zakharova described the news published by the US press that Russia would invade Ukraine as nonsense. “We learn from US newspapers that we will attack Ukraine. Despite the fact that we consider ourselves a people of a common history with this country When aggressive actions are attributed to us, and even against a country in which people empathize with our common history and for this they are criticized by the Kiev regime and the President of Ukraine, how can we hatch plans for some aggressive actions? This is absurd,” Zakharova said.
