NATO Secretary General Jean Stoltenberg attended the Berlin Security Conference in Berlin, the capital of Germany. Recalling his promise to continue supporting Ukraine in Bucharest, Stoltenberg said in his speech at the opening of the conference, “Russian missiles and drones continue to rain down on Ukrainian cities, civilians, and critical infrastructure. The Russian invasion of Ukraine did not come as a surprise. Months before the attack NATO shared intelligence showing that Russia was planning to invade Ukraine. And despite all our efforts to find a diplomatic solution Putin went ahead with his plans. NATO was well prepared. A few hours after the attack, we put our defense plans into action. And the eastern part of the Alliance had thousands of soldiers were deployed,” he said.
