A man in Russia blew up an elevator with a bomb as it his neighbor was causing a noise while repairing the elevator of the apartment building. The elevator cabin was fragmentized, seriously injuring the man inside following the blast. The Russian Investigation Committee announced that chemicals and tools used in making bombs were seized in the raid. The suspect, who was taken into custody, said in his first statement that his neighbor was constantly repairing the elevator and making noise, which is why he planted a bomb and carried out his plan. The suspect in custody will be referred to the court after the proceedings and will most likely be arrested.

Russia bombed a prison in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, killing 17 inmates and injuring 42, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice. The airstrike hit Bilenke Prison with four bombs, causing heavy damage. Ukrainian officials condemned the attack as a violation of international law and labeled it a war crime.
Zaporizhia is among the regions Russia claims to have annexed in 2022, though it remains mostly under Ukrainian control.
