NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised Türkiye’s defense industry, noting that “more than 3,000 companies” contribute to its defense ecosystem and stressing that production capacity is essential for deterrence.
Speaking after the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels, Rutte warned of persistent threats from Russia, including airspace violations, cyberattacks, and strikes on Ukraine as winter approaches. He urged allies to boost defense investment and share responsibility fairly.
Rutte said NATO’s priorities ahead of the 2026 Ankara summit include strengthening industry and supporting Ukraine through the winter and beyond.
