Education has restarted today with the lifting of the curfew declared by the opposition in Syria, which entered a normalization phase after the overthrow of the Assad regime. Instead of the flag march of the 61-year Assad regime, students and teachers entered their school with freedom songs.
“We are currently in a new period in Syria. There is no more fear and sorrow. Our profession has value now. We come to school happily when we come from home. We will now work for the construction of education in Syria. We will take these children out of war mode and prepare their future,” said Samer Al Tıveyni, the principal of Muhammed Bedi El Kesim Primary School.
“Syria is free and we are happy. I will be a doctor when I grow up. We are very happy to come to school freely,” said Zehra Al Şeyh, a 4th grade student.
