Security forces began going to the polls at 07:00 local time for the parliamentary elections to be held on October 20 in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq. The early voting, held in 749 polling stations in 165 centers, will continue until 18:00.
According to the election law, at least 30 of the 100 seats in the KRG parliament, 5 of which belong to minority communities, must be held by women.
