Serbia has agreed to purchase 12 Rafale fighter jets from France in a deal worth €2.7 billion, marking a significant shift in Serbia’s defense strategy. The agreement was signed during a meeting in Belgrade between French President Emmanuel Macron and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, alongside 11 other agreements covering cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, and nuclear energy. The deal, seen as a move away from Serbia’s traditional military ties with Russia, was formalized by Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic and Dassault Aviation CEO Eric Trappier.
