Sewing Master Preserves 19th-Century Heirloom Machine

Kenan Namlı, a master of hoop embroidery and sewing in Buldan, Denizli, Türkiye, treasures a hand-cranked sewing machine from the 1800s, inherited from his ancestors. Working at his textile shop in the historical Hamamboğaz area, Namlı showcases the antique machine, which was originally used for dowry, sewing, and embroidery. “This machine is a family heirloom that I will pass down to my daughters, Eylül and Dilan, ensuring its legacy continues,” he said.

Dilan Namlı, who learned sewing and frame embroidery from her father, expressed her commitment to preserving and passing on the lever sewing machine to future generations, honoring her family’s tradition.
