The 8 blocks on northern side of the silo in Beirut port collapsed after occasionally burning for 2 months. Other blocks in the same side collapsed on July 31 and August 4, on the second anniversary of Beirut explosion. The southern blocks of the silo are claimed to have no risk of collapsing.
The blocks were already planned to be pulled down in April but the plan was put aside because relatives of the Beirut explosion casualties objected to the decision.
