Six Missing After Landslide Hits New Zealand Campsite

Six people remain missing after a landslide struck a crowded campsite on Mount Maunganui in New Zealand’s North Island following heavy rainfall. Authorities launched search and rescue operations in the Tauranga area, where roads were closed and some communities were cut off. Police said a 15-year-old is among the missing, with no confirmed fatalities at the campsite so far. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited the site, saying affected families are “suffering immense pain.” Separate landslides elsewhere in the region killed two people, including a Chinese national, as severe weather continued to disrupt the east coast
