Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak stated at a press conference that Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was the target of an assassination attempt on May 15, had a two-hour surgery today and that his condition still remained serious. Meanwhile, the director of the hospital where Fico is being treated said that Fico, who is still in the intensive care unit, is conscious and his condition is stable.

The attacker, who is a 71-year-old former security guard, has been charged with murder, according to local media.
