A small plane belonging to a private aviation training company crashed into an empty area in a residential district in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. The instructor pilot and student, who were injured in the shattered plane, were taken to a hospital after first aid was given at the scene.
The crash is believed to have occurred as a result of a mechanical failure in the aircraft.
