small plane crashes into transmission tower in US, 2 aboard rescued

A small plane crashed into a power transmission tower in Montgomery County, Maryland, USA. The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service arrived on the scene after the accident and contacted the plane’s 65-year-old pilot Patrick Merkle and 66-year-old passenger Jan Williams, who were stuck inside the cockpit. The teams grounding the power transmission line also closed the highway to traffic. The pilot and passenger, who were seriously injured, were transferred to the hospital following the rescue efforts, which lasted approximately 6 hours.
