Unexpected Snowfall Extends Ski Season on Erciyes, Türkiye

The snowfall that lasted 3 days amid March has extended the ski season at Erciyes Ski Resort, one of the most popular ski resorts in Türkiye, offering local and foreign ski enthusiasts the opportunity to ski in warm weather.

“It’s very fun, I come here every year. Until 2 days ago, it was minus 10 degrees here, but the weather is very nice today. All the slopes are open, the season is definitely not over. We had a great season. It’s great to ski without getting cold thanks to the warm weather,” said a ski enthusiast named Sena.

“We are very pleased, we also skied here in April during Covid. It’s good when snow falls unexpectedly. We ski as if it were January or February. It was surprising for us as we had closed the ski season in our minds,” said another visitor, Bakın Deliorman.

Families of Sarajevo Victims React to Foreign “Sniper Tourism”

Fikret Grabovica, head of the Association of Families of Children Killed During the Siege of Sarajevo, said families were “shocked” to learn that foreigners allegedly paid Serb forces to shoot civilians, including children, during the Bosnian War. His remarks follow an Italian investigation into possible involvement of Italian nationals in these so-called “manhunts.”

Grabovica said the issue first came to light through the documentary Sarajevo Safari, which included protected witnesses describing foreigners using hunting-style rifles to target civilians. He said some visitors came from Italy, the US, Canada, Russia, and Slovenia, and that children were targeted at a higher “price.”

He called the allegations “unbearable” and urged the Milan investigation to fully identify and prosecute those responsible, noting that domestic prosecution in Bosnia has been limited.
