Schools were closed for 2 days in Sulaymaniyah, Anbar and Babylon provinces due to heavy snowfall in northern Iraq. In the statement made by the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKRG) Meteorology and Earthquake Directorate, it was reported that the lowest air temperature was recorded at minus 17 in the Pencevin district of the Sulaymaniyah province. Authorities warned against snowfall in the region and called on citizens to be careful. Many animals perished in the region due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold.
