Soldiers throw stone at Chinese drone on Taiwanese Island

China sent a drone to Taiwan-controlled Kinmen Island after increasing its military activity in the region following the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan on August 2-3. Taiwanese soldiers attempted to drop the drone by throwing stones after realizing they were being watched. Following the widespread distribution of the images on social media, the Taiwan Ministry of Defense emphasized that officers and soldiers at all levels will continue to implement vigilance in accordance with the principle of “not escalating conflicts or causing disputes.” The Taiwanese government will deploy anti-drone systems, beginning with smaller islands next year, the ministry said.

China announced a new exercise in the region, stating that real ammunition would be used in the exercise, which will take place on the coast of Fujian province, across Taiwan, on August 26-27.

Dozens of Bodies Exhumed at Shifa Hospital’s Garden in Gaza Strip

Palestinian Civil Defense teams announced that the bodies of 48 Palestinians who were killed at the Israeli bombardment of Shifa Hospital and buried in its garden have been exhumed.

Thirty-eight of the bodies were reportedly identified by their families but the rest could not be unidentified and were taken to the Health Ministry’s Forensic Medicine Unit.

“We came to Shifa Hospital escaping Israeli airstrikes. During the hospital siege, an Israeli sniper killed my 29-year-old son Mazen Abu Aita. The Israeli army took us out of the hospital and I do not know where my son’s body is. Some family members told me he was buried in a mass grave, but I do not know where he is,” said a woman named Muna Abu Aita, urging authorities to help seeking for his son.

There were a total of 160 bodies buried in the hospital garden and the process of moving them would take several days, said the Palestinian Civil Defense.
