SpaceX’s Starship rocket, designed for carrying cargo and people, disintegrated eight minutes after liftoff during a test flight. The rocket was launched from the Starbase facility in Texas.
While the upper stage disintegrated, the “Super Heavy” booster section successfully returned to the launch pad. SpaceX Communications Manager Dan Huot confirmed an anomaly in the upper stage. Elon Musk, sharing the incident on social media, commented, “Success is uncertain, but fun is guaranteed!”
The incident caused air traffic disruptions, with flights diverted and delays at Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports. Social media users reported witnessing bright orange lights over Port-au-Prince, Haiti, thought to be remnants of the rocket.
