spain’s catalonia faces worst drought recorded

After a period of thirty months with little to no rainfall, the Catalonia region in Spain is facing its worst dry season on record. Currently, 224 municipalities in the region have water reserves at only 27 percent due to the lack of rain, and have faced restrictions on water consumption since Tuesday. These restrictions include limiting each person’s daily water supply to 230 liters, affecting almost 6 million people. In addition, there has been a 40 percent reduction in water supply for agricultural use and a 15 percent reduction in water supply for industrial and recreational use. It is also prohibited to use potable water to clean the streets or water any public or private green spaces.
