The Spanish government abolished the obligation to wear masks outside as of February 10. Spanish Health Minister Carolina Darias stated that the peak in Covid-19 cases in the country has been reached and that masks will not be worn if the 1.5-meter social distance rule is followed, and those who do not comply with the distance rule will be required to wear masks. However, it was observed that the Spanish continued to wear masks in the open area and did not give up their precautions. Ines Romero, who lives in Barcelona, said: “People are tired of masks. I respect that. But I think we should keep the precaution and wear a mask. I will wear a mask until we are told that the virus is gone.”
The Spanish government will discuss the abolition of the indoor mask requirement at the regional presidents meeting in La Palma in the Canary Islands on February 25.
