State of emergency declared due to ongoing forest fire in Kazakhstan

The fight against a forest fire that broke out three days ago in Kazakhstan’s Kostanay region continues. According to a statement issued by the Kostanay Governorship Press Center, an emergency was declared in the fire area, and funds were allocated by the governorship to 1,800 people who were evacuated as a result of the fire. According to the statement, 200 of the evacuees remained in schools, and the majority of those who were confident that they were safe returned to their homes. 98 of the 108 buildings damaged by the fire were completely destroyed.

A nationwide aid campaign for fire victims has been launched.
