Storm Eowyn has hit Ireland and Northern Ireland, disrupting transportation and bringing life to a standstill.
All schools in Ireland and Northern Ireland have been closed for one day, while authorities warned people to stay home, saying it is one of the most dangerous storms.
Serious disruptions occurred on public transport lines, while air transportation is suffering major delays. A total of 220 flights from and to the Dublin Airport have been reportedly cancelled so far.
The Irish weather agency said that the wind speed reached 182 kilometers per hour in the night, breaking an 80-year record.
ESB Networks, which provides energy to Ireland, reported that there were power outages due to the “unprecedented” damage to the network. The statement said it could take up to 9 days for some homes to be powered.
