Employees at Düsseldorf and Cologne Bonn airports have launched a 24-hour warning strike, causing significant flight disruptions. The strike, called by the Ver.di union, follows failed wage negotiations affecting over 2.5 million public employees.
At Cologne Bonn Airport, ground staff and check-in officers joined the strike, leading to around 50 flight cancellations or diversions. Düsseldorf Airport saw about 90 flights canceled out of 270 scheduled.
Passengers affected by delays or cancellations can request rebooking or refunds. EU regulations may also entitle them to compensation. Travelers are advised to check with airlines for updates.
