The Uysallar Neighborhood in Mutlugün Village, submerged by Türkiye’s Yusufeli Dam, has re-emerged as water levels receded. The 275-meter-high dam, the tallest in Türkiye and the fifth highest in the world, began holding water in November 2022, flooding the Yusufeli district center and several villages.
As the reservoir shrank, remnants of homes, mosques, and schools resurfaced, allowing former residents to revisit their old village. The reappearance of Uysallar holds deep historical and emotional significance for locals.
