Supporters of pro-Iranian Shiite armed groups in Iraq’s capital Baghdad stormed the building of the Saudi Arabia-based MBC TV channel in response to a news report that they claimed to have insulted the leaders of the armed groups. The group damaged some of the channel’s items and burned the building’s entrance door.
“State-supported MBC IRAQ channel, this issue cannot end with breaking or burning. You have no place in Iraq, we will strive to cancel your license,” said Mustafa Send, a member of parliament known for his closeness to Shiite groups, on social media.
