Prisoners rescued from Syria’s infamous Sednaya Prison, known as Assad’s “human slaughterhouse,” are receiving medical care in poor conditions at run-down hospitals.
Sednaya, located 30 kilometers north of Damascus and notorious for severe torture and inhumane conditions, gained global attention with shocking images of its atrocities. After opposition forces toppled the Assad regime, many freed detainees were found in dire health, requiring urgent medical treatment.
One survivor, Nureddin El Apse, remains in critical condition. His brother, İbrahim El Apse, recounted, “He was taken seven years ago on false terrorism charges, tortured relentlessly, and left in the corridor before his release. Soldiers found him unconscious, and his recovery is uncertain.”
