According to Diyarbakır Governor’s Office, it’s been stated that as a result of the works carried out by the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command, information was obtained that suspects residing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır city, Turkey, were looking for customers to sell various historical artifacts for 2 million dollars. After obtaining the information, gendarmerie teams hit the button for operation and carried out a bust on the suspects. In the operation, 4 suspects caught red-handed in Bağlar-Alankoz district while trying to sell a crocodile skin with an Arabic stamp on the back and a bronze tablet.

“During the search conducted on the suspects and their vehicles, 1 crocodile skin with an Arabic stamp on the back and 1 bronze tablet, which is considered to belong to the Roman period, were found,” Diyarbakır Governor’s Office said in the statement. It’s been told that seized historical artifacts taken into protection and handed over to Museum Directorate, and an investigation launched against 4 suspects.
