Sweden’s newly appointed Health Minister Elisabet Lann fainted during her first press conference after taking office, citing low blood sugar. She quickly recovered and returned to continue.
Lann replaced Acko Ankarberg Johansson in Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s cabinet. Before collapsing, she stressed that Sweden’s main healthcare issue is long waiting times, calling it “unacceptable for a welfare state.”
The government, led by the Christian Democrats, is pushing for greater state control and nationalization of healthcare to address the crisis.
