Thousands of Syrian refugees in Türkiye are returning to their homeland following the fall of the Assad regime and the end of the 61-year Baath rule. Peace and reconstruction efforts in Syria have encouraged families to make the journey home after years of separation.

Kilis Öncüpınar Customs Gate has become a hub of activity, with refugees completing procedures and trucks transporting aid and construction materials to rebuild the war-torn country.

Talal Budo, a refugee from Homs, expressed his gratitude to Türkiye for sheltering him for a decade. “I am pleased with my life here, but it’s time to return. I plan to open a barber shop in my homeland,” he said.
