Worshippers filled the historic Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, northwestern Türkiye, for the first Tarawih prayer of Ramadan after four years of restoration work. Residents from Edirne and nearby provinces gathered for the evening prayer, with the mosque’s interior, courtyard and surrounding area reaching capacity.
Emotional scenes unfolded as prayers and Quran recitations echoed under the mosque’s dome. Officials arranged separate rows for men and women on the main floor, as the women’s section remains closed due to ongoing restoration.
