Dust transport from Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia caused air pollution in Tehran, the capital of Iran. In a statement made by the Iranian Meteorological Institute, it was stated that air pollution in Tehran was measured as 416 micrograms / cubic meter, and in some parts of the city, air pollution increased to the highest level of 500 micrograms / cubic meter.
“Dust waves coming from Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia will continue throughout the country, including Tehran, for the next three days. Air pollution is increasing due to the lack of precipitation. Dust clouds coming to Tehran over Iraq, crossed the cities of Kermanshah, Hamedan, Saveh, Gazvin and Qom, and have reached Tehran,” a local expert said.
According to the World Health Organization, the rates recorded above 100 micrograms in air are harmful to health, and the measurement above 250 is an alarm level.
