Tehran Mourns Loss of President Raisi in Helicopter Crash

Crowds gathered in Tehran’s Valiasr Square to honor Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation, who perished in a helicopter crash yesterday. The commemoration began with a recitation of the Holy Quran, and attendees, visibly emotional, held banners reading “Send greetings to Sulaymaniyah” and “I am proud to vote for a martyr,” along with photos of Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, also a victim of the crash.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei extended his condolences to the nation and announced a five-day period of national mourning. In his message, Khamenei stated that First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will assume presidential duties for the next 50 days, as stipulated in Article 131 of the Constitution.
