General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who was brought to power by the junta administration after the military coup in Thailand in 2006, said goodbye to the Thai Government House after the new prime minister was elected. Praying at the Buddhist shrine for the first time on his last working day at the Government House, Chan-o-cha held a lunch with his team and members of the press during the day. Rachada Dhnadirek, deputy government spokesman, said in a statement that Prayut will remain as interim prime minister until the official oath of new Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and his cabinet, even though it is his last day of work at Government House.
Prayut told reporters that he prayed for peace in the country.
