Peatongtarn Shinawatra, former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s 37-year-old daughter, was announced as the new prime minister in Thailand. Taking the office as Thailand’s 31st Prime Minister after the ceremony held this morning, Shinawatra has become the youngest prime minister in the country’s history.
“I, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, will do my best during my term of office to make Thailand a country of equal opportunity and happiness for every Thai,” Shinawatra stated in a press statement.
