Saudi Arabia that hasn’t accepted pilgrim candidates from abroad for 2 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has welcomed the first pilgrim candidate convoy of 2022. The plane carrying the pilgrim convoy from Indonesia landed at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. The first convoy of pilgrims from abroad have welcomed at the airport by Saudi Arabian officials and Indonesian Ambassador to Riyadh. “Today we received the first group of this year’s pilgrim candidates from Indonesia. Today, after a 2-year break due to the pandemic, we are happy to welcome guests from abroad,” Mohammed al-Bijawi, from the Ministry of Hajj in Saudi Arabia, said in his statement.

Monsoon Rains Kill 17 in Pakistan

Monsoon rains have claimed 17 lives in Pakistan, with flash floods hitting Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. In Swat, nine people drowned while trying to rescue children who fell into a river during a family picnic. Search operations are ongoing for four missing individuals. Eight more deaths were reported in Punjab due to roof collapses, lightning, and floods. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the tragedy.
