The first solar power plant has been put into operation in Turkey’s Black Sea region. The only solar energy system of the region is expected to produce 4 million kilowatt hours of energy per year. The solar system which was installed in Alucra the town of Giresun has cost 15 million Turkish liras. It involves a total of 8,000 panels on a 30 acre site.

The fire, which raged for four days, blackened the foothills of Katırlı Mountain and destroyed vast green areas, including near the Gürsu Municipality Recreation Area and Animal Care Center. Drone footage revealed the scale of devastation. Gürsu Mayor Mustafa Işık said, “When the sun rose, we saw the magnitude of the disaster. Our hearts burned.” Cooling operations in Gürsu and neighboring Kestel continue.
