The Great Mosque and Hospital of Divrigi, located in the province of Sivas, Türkiye, fascinates its visitors with its motifs reflecting the rarest and finest examples of stonework. It was built in 1228 during the Seljuk period, is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.
“One of the greatest features of this work of art is that there are 10,000 motifs embroidered on its surface. There are no repeats. If we view the other gates separately, they are also beautiful, but the stonework on the Gate of Heaven is at its peak. The motifs on this door can be explained in just 1.5 hours,” Mustafa Yıldırım, a mosque volunteer guide, said.
