El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, and asked the World Bank to help Bitcoin implemention. But the internaional lender rejected a request from El Salvador. El Salvador’s Finance Minister Alejandro Zelaya said that the country had asked the World Bank for technical assistance.
US President Donald Trump’s decision to raise tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from 25% to 50% has taken effect. Trump said the move aims to protect national security and counter low-priced foreign metals harming US industries.
The UK remains exempt, with its tariffs staying at 25%. The US is the world’s largest steel importer after the EU, sourcing mainly from Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and South Korea.
