Due to the ongoing extreme heat in Japan, 7,116 people have been hospitalized. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) predicted that the extreme heat would last until next week. Officials issued a heatstroke warning.
On the other hand, the maximum temperature in the Kanto and Tokai regions of the country, where thermometers read 39.5 degrees yesterday, is expected to be 38 degrees or higher today. Authorities urged people to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, to use air conditioning, and to drink plenty of water.
