With the arrival of Ramadan, Palestinian Muslims who wanted to perform the first Friday prayer flocked to Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City. Despite the Israeli police’s stringent precautions, 100,000 Muslims performed the prayer. Additionally, Israel intensified security measures against Palestinians, tightened restrictions, and constructed barriers at West Bank exits. They also checked the identification cards of passers-by in the alleyways leading to the mosque compound and briefly detained others.
