The torrential rains that have been falling in Dakar and other parts of Senegal since Saturday have killed three people, Senegalese President Macky Sall said on Sunday. According to him, two of the fatalities occurred in the Dakar suburbs of Camberene and Yeumbeul, and the third occurred in Sadel in northern Senegal. The Senegalese president stated that he had directed the interior, water and sanitation, and national solidarity ministers to stand by the affected populations.

Senegal is experiencing excessive rainfall this year, resulting in flooding in several districts of Dakar and in other parts of the country.

At least 26 people have died after Typhoon Kalmaegi struck the central Philippines, most of them in Cebu province. Governor Pamela Baricuatro described the flooding as “truly devastating,” saying residents were caught off guard by rising waters.
