Putin Accuses Kyiv of Terrorism, Questions Ceasefire Talks

0

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine’s government of turning into a “terrorist organization” following recent attacks on Russian infrastructure, including rail lines in Bryansk and Kursk. Speaking at a government meeting, Putin said the strikes aimed to sabotage ongoing peace negotiations.

Presidential Advisor Vladimir Medinsky briefed Putin on peace talks held in Istanbul, where a two-part draft memorandum was proposed, covering long-term peace conditions and a potential ceasefire. Medinsky also announced that Russia is ready for a major prisoner exchange between June 7 and 9, involving 1,200 people, including the wounded, ill, and young POWs.

Putin claimed Ukraine is trying to halt military actions temporarily while continuing attacks. “Who negotiates with terrorists?” he asked, expressing doubt over holding a summit or agreeing to a ceasefire. He also criticized Ukraine for rejecting Russia’s offer of a short-term truce, saying Kyiv officials “do not need peace” and only seek to retain power.
